This memo was sent by Superintendent Carl Toliver to acknowledge everyone who has worked hard to make the SIG grant possible. Those individuals who played a part in securing this significant grant and therefore received this memo are listed at the bottom of this page.

As you all know by now, SUSD's School Improvement Grant (SIG) application has been recommended for funding, to the tune of more than 34 million dollars! If approved by the State Board of Education this month, all seven of SUSD’s SIG-eligible schools will receive $1.5 million or more per year for three years, which they will use to implement one of the school improvement models recommended by the U.S. Department of Education—Turnaround model at Taylor Elementary; Transformation model at Fremont, Harrison, Henry, and Roosevelt; and Restart at Nightingale and Pittman...

Financial Aid Assistance Nights
for Seniors

Now that seniors have submitted their college admissions applications (state colleges and universities due by November 30, some private schools accept applications through December and January – see your counselor for more information), the next step is for seniors and their families to complete the FAFSA financial aid application which is due by March 2.
Delta College has partnered with us to offer “Cash for College” nights at each of our comprehensive high schools to assist students and families in completing the FAFSA application. Spanish assistance is available at all the events listed below. Students and families can visit the website www.cash4college.org to learn what to bring and to enter for a $1000 scholarship. Please encourage students and families to apply for financial aid. Many of our families will qualify for the Cal Grant which provides up to $12,192 in financial aid annually.
