Rotary Read-In Event

Thank you to all of the hundreds of volunteers and the Rotary Read-In directors who staged the biggest reading event yet this week. We had community members in just about every Pre-K through 3rd grade class in Stockton Unified School district and the students loved every minute of it. We know your time is important and we appreciate your spending some of it with us. Our students are our single most important asset and we appreciate all your support to help them succeed. Thank also for the generous gifts of beautiful children's books for our libraries and classrooms. As our district embarks on the new Common Core Standards, where reading and writing will be so important, the annual Rotary Read-In is more important than ever!!
This is a year-long planning effort by the Stockton Rotary organizations and this year’s event went off beautifully as a result of their good work. Again, our great thanks for this very valuable event!

Congratulations SECA on Your Successful Mock Trial Showing!
Principal Josh Thom surrounded by the SECA team members.

On February 7th and 8th, 2014, volunteers, students, and parents from throughout the Stockton community gathered at Weberstown Mall to judge and view over 300 projects from SUSD schools entering the annual District's Science Fair. It was an enjoyable event and a learning experience for all. Thank you to the community and teachers who made this possible for our students.

SUSD Schools Hold Annual Blood Drive

Bush, Peyton and Rio Calaveras elementary schools held their fourth annual blood drive this week to help the Delta Blood Bank replenish its supplies after the holidays. The one-day drive drew our parents, teachers, and staffers as well as community members and Superintendent Steve Lowder. “This effort by our schools to give to their community is laudable,” Dr. Lowder said. “Is is great to see our parents, principals, teachers and custodians and clerical and other staff coming in and giving blood after a long day at school to support the Delta Blood Bank.”
The blood bank organized the Bush school cafeteria into a donor station and staffed it until 7:30 p.m. to give donors enough time to get in. Thank you donors and Rio Calaveras, Bush and Peyton elementary schools!
