2009-2010 Scholarships Information
The
2009-2010 Stockton Unified School District “Catalogue” of Scholarships
(local, regional, specific, and national) is useful and recommended for ALL
high school students. Knowledge of the availability of scholarship monies
and assistance is particularly helpful for counselors/advisors, teachers,
parents and students in helping ALL students set goals and find available
means to help achieve those goals! This information and the knowledge of
availability of funds should serve to strengthen the academic portion of a
comprehensive guidance and counseling program (Grades 10th thru 12th) for
students.
It is never too soon to research, encourage, and assist our youth toward
meaningful and successful futures in school and beyond!

Governing Board Student
Representatives
At each board meeting during
the course of the school year, each high school, on a rotating basis, sends
a student representative to sit on the dais with board members. The board
agenda calls for the student to be introduced by the school principal
followed by an overview of school activities and events presented by the
student.
The following student
represented SUSD Early College at the board
meeting of January 26th, 2010.
ANDREW NGAI »
Andrew
Ngai is a stellar member of the outstanding freshman class at SECA. He is a
native Stocktonian and has one sibling, a younger brother named Allen. Andrew
came to SECA from Hamilton Elementary School and has been a student leader from
his very first day on campus, when he was chosen to be SECA’s representative for
the Student Advisory Council to the SUSD Board. Though only a freshman, he
immediately distinguished himself and honored the school by being elected as the
Vice-President of that group.
Andrew’s interests range from music (saxophone, trumpet, and, most recently,
guitar), to time on the computer, to playing basketball and football with his
friends. However, as much as he loves these diversions, Andrew’s main priority
is school, because a solid education is extremely crucial for his future plans.
As he puts it, “I believe that the more education that you receive as a student,
the better your future and your career will be.”
He is off to a great start in the pursuit of his goal. At SECA, Andrew has
maintained a 4.25 GPA, while taking four Honors level core academic high school
courses, including Algebra II, as well as two 3-unit college courses. In
addition, he is a member of the SECA Academic Decathlon team and also
participates in a Competitive Speech and Debate class. His future goals include
matriculation to UC Berkeley, ultimately earning his Ph.D.
