To our SUSD Community: NEW SUSD WEBSITE!
We have given our district website a new, updated look and will be launching the redesign prior to school opening. The changes reflect our focus on our parents and students.
The updated website will be compatible to modern internet browsers and responsive on mobile devices. Most importantly, it will be much cleaner and clearer for our staff and families to navigate. However, we know this is a change for our users and we ask for your patience. Visit the site a few times and see if you think it is more welcoming and easier to use.
Stay tuned!

June 30, 2014

TO:   All Stockton Unified School District Staff
  Dr. Steven Lowder, Superintendent
  July 31 Professional Development Day

We hope you are having a very relaxing summer and are excited about the upcoming school year.  In another month, we will open our doors to serve the students and families of the Stockton Unified School District.  We have been busy gearing up for the 2014-15 school year and are confident we will continue to make SUSD a safe and welcoming instructional environment for our students, parents and staff.

July 31st will again be a professional development day for most district employees. Site staff will continue with the implementation of Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s) and Data Teams. Principals are developing their agendas to reflect the needs of each individual school.

For all members in USA, STA, CSEA 318, CSEA 821 and CSEA 885, please refer to the schedule below for your group assignment.

SUSD Students “Catch Math”

Congratulations to the nearly 200 SUSD students who participated in this year’s Catch Math Academy, offered by SUSD for students preparing for high school algebra. The intensive summer program was taught at the University of the Pacific by top SUSD math teachers and culminated in a special graduation ceremony.

Big thanks to coordinator Brandy De Alba and teachers Katherine Burns, Jennifer Duren, Nathan Haley, Michele Kesselman, Geoff Moss, Natalie Owens, Rachel Stafford, Alicia Taylor, Viry Turn and John Wheeler who taught this year’s program.

The summer academy is tough: Students studied six hours a day for five weeks to make sure they understand math well enough to succeed in high school. They work off of new laptop computers that they get to take with them to high school. This year students who attended last year returned, saying they learned so much and it made high school math that much easier.

Great job to everyone who contributed and special thanks to UOP, which provided the learning classrooms, teaching assistants and tours of the university.
