It was a very special Christmas
celebration at the Roger Walton Special Center on Wednesday, Dec.
18, 2007 as employees of W.L. Butler Construction Company handed out
presents to each student. They also left two tricycles and several
wagons for the school itself. |

Under the guidance of project manager
Wilson Yu, the company chose the Walton Center as its 2007 recipient of
donated Christmas presents. Local employees, the company and others
donated to the project. Yu and his crew worked for the last several
months to get wish lists from the students and find the appropriate
toys. |

"This brings us happiness and joy
to see the kids get all these gifts," Yu said. "That's what it's all
about.
Principal Tom Whitesides was even
interviewed by Channel 13 for a segment after cameramen watched the
students get their gifts. Mr. Whitesides made the most of the
opportunity, telling them that Walton Center is on the list to
receive a $15 million upgrade to its 35-year-old facility if Measure
Q, SUSD's construction bond is approved by voters in February.
