It’s a great time
to do business with SUSD

SUSD was a gold sponsor of the 2008 State of the City event held Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Port of Stockton. Many business people, as well as current and former educators stopped by our booth to talk about the recent passage of Measure Q. The Community Relations Office provided folders of information to business executives and contractors, who will be enlisted to help us renovate and repair our school sites over the next 15 years. Mayor Ed Chavez, the Yes on Q committee chairman, mentioned Measure Q’s passage as an example of the city’s coming together for our youth during his final State of the City speech. Watch the PowerPoint presentation (5.6 MB pdf) shown to those who stopped by our booth.

Measure Q passes
with 67.75% of the vote!!!

February 5, 2008, was a monumental day in the history of Stockton Unified School District. Measure Q, the $464.5 million construction bond, passed overwhelmingly. The next 10 to 12 years will see major renovations coming to our campuses.

Everyone associated with the Measure Q campaign would like to thank the numerous volunteers, especially those students, who helped make phone calls, place doorhangers and walk precincts. It was a total team effort to get Measure Q passed, and now the work begins to renovate and modernize our many elementary and high school campuses.

Look for opportunities to serve on site level committees that will help us plot out exactly how our district will look for many years to come.
