Family Day at the Park
University Park
September 24, 2011
Family Day at the Park was a
huge success. Stockton Unified
School District was well
represented at the event.
Principals and school staffs
from three elementary schools,
Nightingale Charter, Pittman
Charter and Primary Years
Academy, shared a booth
providing hands-on activities
for young children and were on
hand to provide information to
parents.
The Health Careers Academy set
up an impressive booth which was
well-staffed with an
administrator, school staff,
students, and their unofficial
school mascot, “Boomer” the
school skeleton, who was looking
very festive in his/her lab coat
and stethoscope with a flashy
hat and lei. Long lines of
children took turns spinning the
“wheels of health” while school
staff and administration
answered questions about the
school’s curriculum and
activities.
Preschool also had a booth
sponsored by First 5/California
where children enjoyed making
colorful art projects while
staff handed out valuable
information and answered
questions about the preschool
program.
Our Stockton Unified students
provided plenty of
entertainment. Chavez students
marched, sang snappy tunes and
played a variety of music.
Franklin cheerleaders
participated in the parades and
was a big part of the event’s
festivities.
Many of our students attended
this event where they enjoyed
the many activities and received
free books. Parents had the
opportunity to learn about new
resources and enjoy a day with
their children.
