Literacy Event
In collaboration
with the Mayor’s Book Club- Read
to Me, Stockton! Project,
Stockton Unified held a literacy
event for parents with children
ages 0-5 from Fillmore, Grunsky,
Harrison, King, Fremont,
Roosevelt, Spanos and Montezuma
schools. The event was held at
Fremont Elementary School. Over
200 parents attended the event,
which included a free Clifford
Book in English and Spanish and
a visit by Clifford the Big Red
Dog!
Parents learned
about brain development and were
provided with information to
assist them in preparing their
children to succeed as readers.
The workshop expanded parents’
awareness of practical early
literacy concepts in English and
Spanish.
Mayor Ann
Johnston joined in on the
presentation and First 5 San
Joaquin sponsored the event.
