Frequently Asked
Questions |
Stockton Unified
will begin a "School Zone"
attendance policy for the
2009-2010 school year. This page
is intended to answer general
questions.
The new Zone Attendance Policy-
-
There are no more school
attendance areas.
Students may apply to
attend any school within
their specific
attendance zone’s
boundaries,
-
This policy does not
affect the following
groups:
-
Students who attend
magnet schools,
-
Students with
hardship exceptions,
-
Students with
inter-district
agreements,
-
Students with NCLB
exceptions;
The
new school assignment policy
below is a step-by-step
process:
-
A family
gets a site application
from:
-
The Student
Assignment Office,
-
A school site, or
-
The SUSD website
-
Family completes the
application and returns
it to the school or the
district office. If the
application is returned
to a school site, the
school should fax it as
soon as possible to the
Student Assignment
Office at (209)
469-3681.
-
The Student Assignment
Office will process the
application as soon as
possible (but in any
circumstance within 24
hours) and send the
applicant a notice of
assignment and
directions to complete
the registration process
at the assigned school
within five working
days. The Student
Assignment Office will
provide the school sites
with an electronic
verification (Excel
spreadsheet or table
embedded in e-mail) of
students for whom
schools have been
assigned.
-
The family will then
complete the traditional
registration process at
the assigned school
(CR-4 card, address
verification, etc.).
-
If address verification
returns an address
outside of a school’s
attendance zone, refer
the family back to the
Student Assignment
Office so they can
assist the family with
placement in the correct
zone.
