Students at Martin Luther King,
Jr., Elementary School
celebrated their namesake this
month with theme-based
performances and presentations
by every class. This year the
students addressed Dr. King’s
quest for equality and peace
with posters, drawings, songs,
poems and recitations from his
speeches. All students got
involved, said principal Connie
Fabian, and all learned the
story of the Nobel-prize
winner’s life.
The school devoted part of each
day to studying and celebrating
Dr. King and the Civil Rights
Movement. Did you know Arizona
was the last state to pass
desegregation and the state was
penalized by sports teams for
the delay? King Eighth graders
wrote their own versions of Dr.
King’s dream for America. They
are posted in the cafeteria/gym
for all of the students to read. |
